Head of Children’s Division and Head of Paediatric Surgery at Monash Childrens Hospital
Led by a pioneer of endoscopic design, surgery and education, Chris has extensive experience in designing and implementing surgical training courses.
He spent 2 years as the senior lecturer in the Dundee Surgical skills laboratory where he developed;
Paediatric endosurgical courses, Thoracoscopic courses. Co-authored the initial textbook in endoscopic energy courses with Professor Sir Alfred Cushcieri.
Chris is a passionate traveller who has worked in a number of countries as a surgeon whilst undertaking research tasks. He worked at the department of surgery at Dundee University in Scotland and was a reader in Paediatric Surgery at Oxford University in Oxford. In Great Ormond Street Hospital London he was a visiting senior paediatric surgical registrar. In Dunedin Hospital, Dunedin New Zealand, Chris was a General Surgical Registrar where he gained two years of general and cardiac experience. Chris travelled to Tumutumu Hospital in Tumutumu Kenya as a medical superintendent where he gained experience working in third world medicine. In Dundee in August 1997 Chris was appointed as faculty for the Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh Advanced Courses in Dundee. There Chris taught a number of courses and designed and implemented endoscopic courses at Dundee.
Among his travels Chris regularly travels interstate and overseas to attend conferences and seminars and he has applied his extensive knowledge to paper writing both journals and medical books. Chris is currently Head of Paediatric Urology at Monash Medical Centre and Southern Health and Head of Paediatric Surgery at Monash Medical Centre and Southern Health. He is the co-coordinator of Video Urodymanics service Southern Health and Consultant Paediatric Urologist. Chris currently visits metropolitan and country hospital and consults privately at The Children’s Surgery in Glen Iris. Chris has been appointed state Clinical lead at The Department of Human Services state level.
Chris is passionate about life; he enjoys travel, sports the arts and spending time with his family.
